Trucking Mechanical Technician

SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Maintenance Manager, the Trucking Mechanical Technician assists the Maintenance Manager for repairs and maintenance to the tractor/trailers, company-owned lawn equipment, company-owned vehicles, shop equipment, and shop clean-up. This position also is responsible for maintaining records and tracking equipment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

- Regular attendance and timeliness are an expectation.
- Job assignments / hours are subject to change to meet business and customer demands. Must be able to work any shift, overtime, and weekends as needed.
- Provides tools and parts to the mechanic in the performance of repairs and/or maintenance to equipment.
- Assists in the repairs and maintenance of trailers – such as, bulk tank trailers, vans, and flat-bed trailers which could include welding.
- Assists in tire repairs and replacement.
- Assists in repairs and maintenance of company-owned lawn equipment.
- Assists in repairs and maintenance of company-owned vehicles.
- Assists in repairs and maintenance of shop equipment.
- Cleans tools and equipment.
- Performs all job duties in a safe manner, abiding by all company policies and procedures.
Additional Duties:
- Provides general clean-up of the shop area.
- Additional daily duties as assigned by on-site lead person / manager.

Education and/or Experience
- Previous mechanic experience (Preferred)
- Previous welding experience (Preferred)
- Previous tractor / trailer driving experience or a valid CDL Class A driver’s license (Preferred)
- Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected changes or modifications of daily work activity.
- Ability to perform multiple job duties as assigned.
- Must be willing and able to work in a team environment.

- Lift limit of 50 lbs. from floor to waist on occasional basis.
- Any lifting over 50 lbs. requires assistance.
- Safely lift 20 lbs. overhead on an occasional basis.
- Ability to stand for 3 hours.at a time.
- Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, climb a ladder, push and pull, climb stairs, and work at heights.
- The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Good hand strengths that do not have population normative deficits.
- Occasionally cranks dolly legs on van trailers to move trailers in or out of shop area.
- Good balance.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Ability to perform medium-heavy cardiovascular step test.
Lifting limits are determined by National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health Standards. Occasional means up to 33% of workday. Grip strengths are determined by Mathowitz strength analysis.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather – very hot or cold temperatures. Employee is exposed to varying noise levels. Exposed to contaminants; such as, but not limited to fuel, oil, solvents, penetrants, paints, and cleaners. Work may be performed in a cramped work space in awkward positions. The employee must wear required protective or safety equipment, such as, safety glasses, goggles, safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, fall protection, hard hats.
