Under the direction of the Operations Manager and/or the On-Site Lead Person, the Wash Bay Attendant is responsible for washing out pneumatic tanks, reefers and blue tagged trailers after each use. The process requires the employee to open and close valves, connect and disconnect water hoses, ensure all fittings, valves, and dome lids are in proper position prior to washing the tank and when the tank is clean.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Regular attendance and timeliness are an expectation.
- Must complete On-the-Job training to maneuver truck into wash bay for cleaning.
- Maneuvers a 15 ft. – 20 ft. hose, weighing up to 40 pounds for washing any remaining product from the pneumatic tank.
- Opens all hatches and valves, (one hatch at a time) on the pneumatic tank prior to cleaning.
- Climbs to the top of the tank to perform washing procedure. Height of 13 feet.
- Wear and engage Fall Protection.
- Moves the spinner unit along the top of the tank to each hatch for cleaning purposes and replace.
- Removes the hose, closes all hatches and valves when cleaning is completed.
- Complete daily inspection sheets and inventory all tools, safety supplies and chemicals.
- Maintains high level of sanitation with practicing clean as you go method. Adhere to GMP (General Manufacturing Practices) training.
- Performs all job duties in a safe manner, abiding by all company and customer safety policies and procedures.
Additional Duties:
- Spot and/or move trailers as needed.
- Additional daily duties as assigned by on-site lead person / manager.

Education and/or Experience
- Previous truck driving experience a plus.
- Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected changes or modifications of daily work activity.
- Ability to perform multiple job duties as assigned.
- Must be willing and able to work in a team environment.

- Lift limit of 50 lbs. from floor to waist on occasional basis.

- Ability to kneel, crawl, stoop, climb a ladder, push and pull, climb stairs, and work at heights.
- The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. Good hand strengths that do not have population normative deficits.
- Occasionally cranks dolly legs on van trailers when asked to move trailers.
- Good balance.
